Having been unemployed for more than a year now I am ready to settle for any job. Even on part-time basis. Even though I am planning to work hard in the real estate field but as you know, there is no guarantee for success and mean while I need income to pay the bills. I am fortunate to have a hard working wife who is working long hours as a waitress. But what if she is out of work or become seriously sick? Anyway, when I saw the "Now Hiring" sign out side a soon to be opened new Target store in Elk Grove, I decided to attended their job fair which is held in a Holiday Inn hotel today and tomorrow.
After finishing some chores in the morning, I arrived at the job fair at about 11:30am. To my surprised, a huge crowd turned out. There was stream of people arriving and leaving the parking lot for the job fair. Many people gathered in the lobby and seemed a little chaotic. Most of them are young high school and college kids. There are some older folks too. Well, I am thirty something now and is clearly suffering a mid-age career crisis. Hey, I am willing to settle to be a stock-boy if there is an opening. To my disappointment, however, there are simply too many people looking a job. A lady was passing out numbered tickets to the late comers and advised them to come back tomorrow. I took a ticket too and it's E50. Is it meant that I am #50 in line tomorrow? I have no idea. Well, at this point, my hope is not high at all in competing with those kids. Let's see what will happen tomorrow. Or should I even try? :-(
