Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. The good news is I submitted my website for the Golden Web Awards and I got accepted. I received the award today. I put a lot of time and effort in designing and updating my website. I guess a little recognition won't hurt.

While I am happy about this award, I am very upset about what happened to the flowers my friend and my wife planted a week ago at the front yard of my house. Someone just yanked out two of the most beautiful flowers and stole them! I thought something like this would never happen in our neighborhood. Our house is brand new. It was just built last year. In fact, all the houses in the neighborhood are brand new houses. Anyway, my wife is pretty upset, she even cursed whomever took the flowers got run over by a car! Well, I guess that's too much a punishment for stealing flowers. But I understand her anger, we felt violated. Anyway, I really don't understand why someone would do things this low. While this person might know how to enjoy the beauty of the flowers, but he or she does not know how to cultivate his or her soul. There is a saying: what goes around, comes around and when there is a cause, there must be an effect. I am sure that person will be punished in one way or another as he or she has violated the golden rule of whatever religion we believe in:

Christianity:

All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye so to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
Matthew 7:1

Confucianism:

Do not do to others what you would not like yourself. Then there will be no resentment against you, either in the family or in the state.
Analects 12:2

Buddhism:

Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.
Udana-Varga 5,1

Hinduism:

This is the sum of duty; do naught onto others what you would not have them do unto you.
Mahabharata 5,1517

Islam:

No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.
Sunnah

Judaism:

What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellowman. This is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary.
Talmud, Shabbat 3id

Taoism:

Regard your neighbor's gain as your gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss.
Tai Shang Kan Yin P'ien

Zoroastrianism:

That nature alone is good which refrains from doing another whatsoever is not good for itself.
Dadisten-I-dinik, 94,5

Finally, if this is a prank done by kids, their parents have failed being responsible parents. I am seriously thinking about to install a hidden seurity camera. I am looking forward to have those would be thieves caught red handed!
