From time to time I would like to pass on the good news and events going on in Elk Grove. I am very excited about the following events and hope you will participate:
CITY OF ELK GROVE TAKES PART IN EARTH DAY FESTIVITIES
ELK GROVE, CA – This year, as the world gets ready to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2005, Elk Grove is calling on residents and businesses alike to do their part for the environment.
“It’s amazing what a difference we can make when members of the community work together,” said Cedar Kehoe, Integrated Waste Program Manager. “Residents looking for a way to get involved this Earth Day have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of environment-related activities.” The City plans to celebrate Earth Day by encouraging residents to recycle used oil, handing out plants, and supporting Creek Week.
On Wednesday, April 20th, City staff will be at Kragen Auto Parts (6628 Laguna Blvd.) handing free oil containers for residents to recycle their used motor oil. This will launch the City’s “Recycle Your Used Motor Oil” campaign.
On Friday, April 22nd, City staff will be handing out Planter Kits in front of City Hall. The kit contains everything you need to grow your very own “Johnny Jump-Up” – just add water! Supplies are limited so come early!
On Saturday, April 23rd, the City is partnering with the Elk Grove Community Services District to promote “Creek Clean-Up” during Creek Week. All residents are invited to collect and remove trash and debris from Elk Grove and Laguna Creeks. Bring your family and friends to help improve and enhance our community. After the clean up, a FREE BBQ lunch will be provided at Miwok Park. There will be activities and booths from local community interest groups. For more information or to participate, contact Zach Jones or Annie Hooper with the Elk Grove Community Services District at 916.685.9371.
Join Elk Grove in a worldwide movement to protect our planet, our children, and our future!
