Laura Ingraham - Another Bias, Misinformed Media "Professional" like Jack Cafferty of CNN on China issues

Today (Sunday, 04/13), while at work I listened to AM radio stations, I somehow tuned into Laura Ingraham's talk show, normally I would have listened to KFBK Bruce Maiman's talk show, but he is off air on Sunday. Not to my surprise, she is just another China bashing, misinformed media "professional" like the CNN new host Jack Cafferty.

Just after the first several minutes of listening to her, and I know what her stands are on current issues related to China: Support free Tibet; President Bush should not go the Olympic opening in China; Call the security guards who protect the torch relay thugs...etc. She even put up a poll on President Bush's visit to the Olympic game, but sadly for her, over 70% of the people think that President Bush will attend the opening of the Olympic game. She must be very disappointed.

Anyway, I don't want to argue with her about why she is wrong on the "Free Tibet" issue all over again in detail as I did with Bruce Maiman (which I may include the details later). If she & others care to learn about the truth, please refer to my previous posts.

After visiting her website (http://www.lauraingraham.com/), I can see that perhaps she is still hung onto the Ronald Regan era's cold war mind set. Don't get me wrong, Regan is a great president, I am all for his contribution in breaking down the Berlin wall and disbanding the Soviet Union. But trying that tactic won't work on China, at least not to the Chinese people. The communist party may go down, but Tibet will never be free from China, as this is the unshakable belief in the majority of the 1.3 billion Chinese people and the millions of oversee Chinese people. Any call for separating Tibet from China will have to answer the Chinese people and they are with the Chinese government on this issue, or whoever will govern China.

The reason people like Laura Ingraham acted the way they behaved is what I call selective journalism. They accused of China violating human rights while putting an blind eye on the Tibet riot which cost many innocent lives, including five young innocent girls burned to death in a shop.
There is no doubt that the human right record is not that great in China, but the Chinese people including myself have noticed the improvement. There is freedom of religion in China. Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity co-existed in China. Dalai Lama isn’t the only one preach Buddhism, the majority of Chinese people practice Buddhism and monks are getting rich in major temples. Some of them even own BMWs, Mercede Benzs, cell phones…etc. Why didn’t you go to China and investigate stories like this? Do you care to find out what exactly going on inside China? Did you care to spend time to learn the history of China? I strongly doubt that. Your view of China is probably still got stuck in China's Cultural Revolution era and you are now acting just like a red guard with your anti-China propaganda in the name of human rights.

By the way, do you think human rights are fully respected in the United States? If there is any riot going on in the U.S., for example, the LA riot, how do you think the police would deal with them? I have learned from the news that the police here will shoot to kill any suspect who the police think their lives were threaten. I heard an Asian guy got killed just by swing a bloom stick in front of his house at the police. As I said, separatism is more dangerous than a riot for any country.

As for the Olympic game, China received the right to host game shows the world recognizes the progress in China and its ability to host the game. And of course, this make those anti-China goons not happy. Why do you think the Tibet separatists would pick such a time to have the riot? The Chinese government isn’t that stupid to pick such a sensitive time to provoke a riot.

And please, do not call the torch security guards thugs, they won’t be needed if the “Free Tibet” crowds protest peacefully. Did you see how one of them trying to take the torch away from a young disabled Chinese girl in the wheel chair in France? Of course you probably didn’t see that, because most of the western media choose to ignore that. Didn't you see how the French police wrestled the violent protesters down to the ground? Why don't you call them thugs?

Also, you probably didn’t and won’t see how many Chinese supporters turn out to counter the “Free Tibet” crowd and welcome the Olympic torch all over the world, especially in San Francisco. My 70 years old mother and her friends turn out to support the torch relay in San Francisco. She told me that most of the “Free Tibet” crowds are not really Tibetans, they are mostly young white kids who don’t even know where Tibet is (for example, refer to the YouTube video on my previous post). And there are more supporter turn out than the “Free Tibet” crowd. And of course you probably didn’t see that on TV either - again, selective journalism. As I told Bruce Maiman, the Olympic game belongs to the world and the Chinese people, do not try to politicize it and take it away from them even though the communist Chinese government is the hosting medium. The theme of the game is Wrold Harmony, what's wrong with that? The Tibet riot is certainly the opposit of that, which promtes violence.

Anyway, I can go on and on how Laura Ingraham is out of touch of China’s reality and the majority of Chinese people’s view on the Tibet riot and the Olympic game. I strongly suggest her and her followers to carefully read my previous posts and spend time on researching the history of China. And according to the latest news, Dalai Lama told the Chinese media, including Sing Tao Daily, that he does not suport the independence of Tibet and he supports and Olympic game and felt sorry for what happened during the torch replays. He also said it's upto the leaders of other govenments to decide whether or not to attend the Olympic game opening. I guess Laura Ingraham and the "Free Tibet" crowds aren't happy to hear that.

See, Kenny, you are sick. You don't like Jack to call CHinese thugs, but then you turn around like right wing idiot and call him a media thug. So you are just as bad.

You must learn to turn the other cheek, like Jesus said, but I guess you are not saved yet.

''Laura Ingraham may be right on other issues, but if she and others like her do not change their views on China regarding Tibe and the Olympic game, I will continue to call them media thugs.''

LOL, Kenny. So people who don't agree with our thugs? You have not learned anything in AMerica, go back to China. You have not absorbed what America is all about. Sad.

You have such a big chip on your shoulder that you walk funny now, try to walk straight. Chin up. You are an American first, you are not Chinese anymore. What is your passport now? Chinese? No way.

Kenny, yes CHina is like the old USSR and it will come down just like the old soviet puppets did. ANd when that happens, when a Chinese Gorby arrives on the scene, the CHINESE PEOPLE will have open minds then, and they will not ALL want Tibet, half will agree to let Tibet be free, same with Taiwan, etc....

But for now, most Chinese are brainwashed inside China. It seems even you, in USA, are brainwashed. Did you never salute the USA flag and learn what freedom is? You are a disgrace to US immigration policy. Sad man you are, angry and hateful.

For those people who don't agree with me, especially on calling Laura Ingraham, Jack Cfferty media thugs, I have no problem taking back the labeling if they take theirs back. I didn't call them media thugs the first place, but I was just too upset on their ignorance of China's reality. If they someday change their minds and quit calling Chinese people goons and thugs, I will certainly change my view on them, please show me the proof and I will gladly remove the word "thugs" I learned from them and replace it with "professionals" and apologize to them.

For commenter number two, telling me to go back to China? LOL, is this what America is about? If you have the right to express your disagreement on China issues, why can't I voice my opinion? And I should go back to China because I don't agree with you? What happened to freedom of speech? Why can't I call them thugs & goons as they call others? As I said before, United States used to be a much fairer country, even help China fought the Japanese during WWII, what happened now? is it all because China is run by the communist government? Are you so blind that you haven't noticed the improvement in China?

Of course, you probably don't care if China has really improved on human rights and standard of living for its people, because you feel insecure, you are afraid that China is taking over the limited resources or your job is taking away by a hardworking Chinese, or a hardwork Chinese American here in the U.S. I will no doubt go back to China if Chinese Americans here were treated like the Japanese Americans during WWII.

As for the commenter three, do you know what freedom really is? Freedom doesn't give you the right to distorted the facts about the Tibet riot and its history; freedom doesn't give your the right to protest violently like what happened in France. You should thank the U.S. immigration policy, America is strong as it is today, is because of having hard-working immigrants like me and others whom have been making contribution to its greatness. But I may agree with you if you are a native Indian. I am angry, because there are people like you in the U.S. trying to harm the U.S. - China relations and people like you who still have the cold war mind set and can't stand other countries getting better & stronger. I do not have big chip on my shoulder, whatever that means, and I am walking proudly because I was born in China, a country with long history and rich cultures; I am walking proudly because I am making a decent living by working hard in the United States, for which I am grateful as I mentioned.

If you read my blog carefully, I didn't say I agree with the Chinese government totally. There is still improvement need to be made. Today's communist government is in many ways different than before. Have you ever been to China to see what is it like there now? What is a true democracy? To me, true democracy is not necessary a two party system, what really counts is the officials were elected & supported by the people and that they truly work to improve the quality of life for its people.

You are not brained washed; you are just ignorant about Chinese history and Chinese people. Chinese people is the most peace loving people, they have never invaded other countries unprovoked in the last 100 years (don't start the Tibet issue again on this, go do some research first).

English is not my native language, so I am debating the issue with half my brain tied behind my back as Rush Limbaugh used to say. But I don’t assume that you are so open minded as to go learn some Chinese.
